Abbi G’zunt is an opinionated Jewish lady from the Five Towns, N.Y, who loves the Torah and loves sharing it.

She is the Mother of the Haus of Midrash - a groundbreaking and award-worthy 54-episode series, covering the full annual cycle of Torah reading. In these short videos, Abbi shares commentary and insights on the weekly Parashot, and introduces ideas from the trove of post-biblical commentary, topped with glamour and camp. The character of Abbi was first created as the lead character in the 2018 workshop of “It Gets Bitter”, originally directed by Antonio Minino, and co-starring Katie-James Rushin.  During the summer of 2020, Abbi launched her first web-series, Jewtorials, sharing insights about Jewish rituals and holidays. 

In 2022, “It Gets Bitter” was expanded into a full-length play and premiered at the “Queer Jewish Arts Festival” in Baltimore, MD. Abbi reprised her role as the mother of an Orthodox teenager, played by actor Aaron Latta Morissette, and the show was directed by Eric Parness and featured original costumes by Yamil DeJesus and video art by NB Studios. Read more about “It Gets Bitter” here
